ABOUT US

The
Wasco Blacksmith shop was established over 100 years
ago. Located along Route 64 in the cornfields of
northern Illinois serving farmers and residents in the region, it has been a
part of Illinois' wrought iron history just as long. As
surrounding towns grew, so did the business of the Wasco Blacksmith.
Many may remember when Mel Peterson needed help
in the mid 80's and hired Ted Frerichs to assist with the iron works
projects in the blacksmith shop. Ted had worked with metal and metal forming machinery for some years for companies in
the area. He was hired on the spot.
Ted proved to
be the best welder ever envisioned for
the blacksmith shop and Mel thought it was a good thing he
had hired him. Soon, Mel handed the Master Welder's Apron of Wasco Blacksmith
to Ted, as it had been passed to him years before, and retired.

2010, the Wasco Blacksmith shop was moved. You can find

He welcomes the opportunity to be involved in metal restoration works or historic preservation wrought
iron projects. Whether the iron
works project involves careful historic preservation of interior wrought iron staircase railings, balconies or door and window grills as
seen in the St. Charles and Geneva areas, or a unique custom wrought iron
table or birdcage, or a specific welding repair
of a favorite '57 Chevy car frame, Ted, the
Wasco Blacksmith, is the
metal welder you want on the job.
The Wasco Blacksmith excels in custom wrought iron entry gates
and fence panels for your secure residential estate
property, not to mention, custom wrought iron balcony railings,
interior and exterior wrought iron staircases and
hand railings and
custom wrought iron door and window grills.
Ted and his
staff have collaborated with homeowners and antique dealers, architects
and design professionals, general contractors and landscapers,
municipalities and park districts, farmers and stable owners,
churches and soccer associations, nurseries and
restaurants, ALL with budget concerns, to
achieve a custom wrought iron design or metal welding repair
or redesign of their specific or unique iron works project.
Whether your
family's favorite antique metal lamp needs welding repair
or you have dreamed of a custom interior or
exterior wrought iron design for your home, community or place
of business, the Wasco Blacksmith, can
help. Call or email today to get started!
