Historic Wrought Iron Preservation is just one of the
many creative blacksmithing and custom iron work
projects Ted and his crew encounter.
This photo was taken at the old Kane County
Courthouse located in Geneva, Illinois. An antique wrap-around interior staircase
railing dating from 1892 was in need of restoration and
repair. The railing had more than 20 areas on 3 floors that were
damaged in some way. The blacksmith made careful detailed drawings of
each curved decorative wrought iron interior part of the staircase
railing needing repair. All parts were then recreated and finished at the
blacksmith shop. The new parts were then riveted in place at the courthouse. The railing was
fully restored to its original design. See the next photo
for the fully restored antique iron staircase railing.

Metal Restoration or Preservation
Antique staircase railings are not the only
restoration projects the Wasco Blacksmith can preserve
or restore. If the piece is made of metal, it can be
restored and preserved for future generations. If you
have a beloved wrought iron backer's rack, a vintage
wrought iron garden bench or metal statue or any other antique or
vintage metal piece in your family waiting to
be repaired, call today to begin the metal
restoration.

As an antique metal
restorer, the Wasco Blacksmith has repaired and restored
antique and vintage
staircase railings and many other wrought iron structures in
several buildings and homes designated as Historic Landmarks
in the area. As Ted says, it's
challenging work since all the iron parts must be recreated.
